General Summary: Under the direction of the assistant director, Benefit Administrative Services, and the manager, Records Management, the Records Management Technician is responsible for preparing, imaging, indexing and maintaining documents for member records. This position ensures accuracy, quality, accessibility and secure handling of documents across multiple departments. The technician also supports research, process improvement, workflow accuracy and special projects that contribute to State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio’s) records and information management processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to interpret and apply business rules and imaging workflows.
  • Ability to work with and preserve confidential information required.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and visual attention for extended periods; ability to lift up to 30 lbs required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in the records management imaging process including monitoring audit reports and understanding batch naming schema for the document types.
  • Meet prescribed daily operational standards, target production goals and quality standards
  • Prepare, organize and batch documents for imaging, use tools to improve poor‑quality originals and ensure proper format.
  • Operate high‑speed scanners, troubleshoot scanning issues, perform regular maintenance and ensure accurate image capture.
  • Analyze documents and images for at least five departments proficiently according to standards to determine the correct department, workflow process and batch type.
  • Index large volumes of documents (at least 500 names) using established naming conventions and workflow structures.
  • Research, retrieve and index microfilmed records, including those not logged or those with unusual statuses.
