We are in search of service minded individuals with the desire to make a positive impact on the residents that live within our community. Position available for Full-time Recreation Therapy Coordinator. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Overtime when available. Must complete employment application online to advance to the next step! Pay scale: $22 - $24 per hour We are a 24/7 facility therefore one must be able to work weekends and holidays as required. All applicants are required to complete and pass a drug screening, physical exam with tuberculosis (TB) skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice. The Recreation Therapy Specialist provides group and individual activities for the residents primarily in Assisted Living. Duties involve personal contact with the varying resident population and a varied work schedule which may include weekends, evenings and holidays. What Can Baywood Court Offer You? Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow instructions in English in order to effectively communicate with staff and residents.
  • Must possess excellent writing skills
  • Enjoy working with the public and the elderly
  • Experience working with older adults
  • Must be able to work some weekends and holidays as required
  • Advanced computer skills; MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism; display a courteous, friendly and helpful attitude; must demonstrate understanding, patience, tact and courtesy with residents, families, visitors and/or co-workers.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to work as a team member and collaborate with all staff members.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, walking and squatting throughout the day.
  • Lift up to 20 pounds to handle supplies.
  • Ability to push residents in wheelchairs as needed.
  • May be exposed to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or HBV.
  • May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan recreation activities including crafts, outings and exercise; reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, re-motivation therapy, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outings, special events.
  • Conduct one on one activities with the residents as required.
  • Conduct weekly room visits three times per week.
  • Implement and maintain Assisted Living new admission protocol.
  • Update and maintain Daily Activity Attendance Binder.
  • Assist with activities as directed by the Assisted Living and Recreation Therapy Manager and in accordance with each resident’s plan of care.
  • Assist the Recreation Therapy Manager with the monthly calendar for Independent and Assisted Living.
  • Responsible for updating any changes.
  • Escort residents to and from activity programs as needed.
  • Escort residents to and from the dining room as needed.
