About The Position

Get to know Thompson! Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. Our values are Excellence, Innovation, Commitment, Caring and Integrity. What will you do as a Recreational Coordinator? As a Recreational Coordinator, your primary purpose is to provide engaging activities, programs, events, and other experiences that create a therapeutic environment for the youth in their care. Display individual proficiency and effectiveness in the role. Be punctual, arrive on time, and prepared. Learn and utilize the organization’s systems, processes and procedures as instructed. Display a high degree of being open to coaching/feedback regarding performance and areas of improvement. Contribute to a positive team culture through your actions, attitude, and communication. Consistently deliver excellent customer service to your clients/customers. Conduct yourself in the highest standards of ethics and integrity while displaying emotional intelligence in your day-to-day work with customers, peers, and leadership. Represent the organization internally and externally through your communication and conduct. Display trauma informed practices and principles in your interactions with customers, with peers and with leadership. Lead efforts in coordinating events, activities, developing an active and engaged program schedule for all clients in care. Facilitate individual and group activities that provide education, engagement, emotional, physical, spiritual development, and fun. Support the milieu in behavioral management and pro-active crisis management. What does this position offer?

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Drivers' License.
  • Must meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as required of the job.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Availability to work weekends
