About The Position

As the Recreational Gymnastics Director, you will oversee the day-to-day operations and long-term growth of the Beverly YMCA’s recreational gymnastics program. This includes supervising coaches, developing programming, and creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment where youth can learn and thrive. Our gymnastics program serves over 800 youth during the school year and approximately 200 children each week during summer camp, making it a key part of our youth development programming.

Requirements

  • Experience in gymnastics (coaching, competitive experience, or related background).
  • Experience supervising or leading staff in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A passion for youth development and creating positive experiences for children and families.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor youth and staff of all ages.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Prior experience coaching gymnastics including Level 1 & 2 with the ability to physically demonstrate gymnastics skills.
  • Must have and maintain all necessary YMCA of the USA certification or the willingness to acquire them within one year.
  • Must have and maintain all appropriate coaching certifications.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid Certifications or must acquire within three months.
  • Must have and maintain a valid MA driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to perform the physical skills necessary for participation in leading gymnastics programs
  • Must be able to safely spot gymnastics skills through level 4
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift and/or spot-assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Beverly YMCA recreational gymnastics program.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support gymnastics coaches and instructors.
  • Develop engaging classes that support skill progression and youth development.
  • Manage program scheduling, enrollment, and staff coverage.
  • Maintain strong communication with participants, families, and YMCA leadership.
  • Support the progression of athletes from recreational classes into team pathways when appropriate.
  • Assist with choreography of floor routines and coaching during classes and events.
  • Oversee member engagement opportunities including open gym sessions, birthday parties, and gymnastics summer camp.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new gymnastics staff.
