About The Position

The Regional Facilities Director is responsible for overseeing the planned/corrective maintenance, repair, and custodial/janitorial services associated with the buildings & grounds and equipment for assigned region. The Regional Facilities Director assists with project management of small capital construction projects as assigned. This position includes supervision of staff and contracted vendors and implementation of risk management and prevention maintenance plans in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the YMCA of San Diego County and/or regulatory agencies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 10+ years' of progressive experience and responsibility in a facilities management, 5+ years' of which are in a supervisory role with proven skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff and volunteers, as well as developing an effective facilities staff/team
  • Certifications: CPO (or ability to obtain with 30 days), electrical/HVAC certificates, CFM/FMP, or closely related credentials
  • Management level work experience that demonstrates effective leadership, technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and directing a multi-functional maintenance/custodial staff at multiple sites/locations
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, use of hand and power tools, and working knowledge of general carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, landscaping, custodial practices; excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce positive results in facilities management
  • Experience effectively leading teams and implementing initiatives
  • High skill level in planning and implementation of administrative procedures and the ability to enforce safety regulations
  • Professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with the public, staff and volunteers
  • Proven fiscal management skills, knowledge of and expertise in maintenance and facility department
  • Have the ability to work with hazardous materials (i.e. Sodium Hypochlorite, Muriatic Acid, etc.)
  • Experience effectively leading teams, fostering strong working relationships, implementing initiatives and administrative procedures
  • Multi-site facility preventative maintenance planning experience
  • Support fundraising events for the region
  • Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants of critical positions within Community Support Services be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
  • American Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety and Health Institute

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with region’s executive leadership team, assist in the effective recruitment, selection, and development of assigned team
  • Serve as communication link between assigned area and executive leadership in the region. Provide pro-active and consistent communication to regional staff team and region’s executive leadership
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates area/region’s department performance and develops action plans, within Association standards, to correct any issues in a timely manner
  • Prepare, maintain, and evaluate budgets and records for the assigned area/region
  • Oversees preventive maintenance initiatives and repair/installation projects
  • Establishes systems to develop staff to meet performance and safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA 4 core values
  • Ensures that all assigned budget departments meet year-end outcomes
  • Manage all functions of the Maintenance and Facility department of the branch
  • Fosters staff motivation, recognition, and teamwork
  • Plan, conduct, and document monthly staff meetings, focusing on safety, review of established policies and procedures, customer service, quality, and sustainability
  • Schedules facility maintenance including writing specifications for Request for Proposal (RFP), estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs
  • Oversees security programs and Fire Prevention Systems
  • Keeps in compliance with, and abreast of, all YMCA policies & procedures and appropriate federal, state, and local regulations (SDS programs, hazardous material or chemical protocols, and permit protocols)
  • Processes quarterly, semi-annual and annual audits
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of all regulatory codes (i.e. UBC, CBC, CALOSHA, ADA, CEQA, DEH, AQMD, BPA, etc.)
  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of skilled and semi-skilled personnel
  • Ability to analyze complex data and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities and situations
  • Professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with the public, staff and volunteers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Proficient or have the capability of working with excel, budgeting software and work order systems
  • Ability to learn/implement Support Services Web-based Work Order System, Building Monitoring Systems, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and business mathematical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact respectfully and effectively with all staff and members
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
