The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! The Regional Maintenance Electrician supports regional maintenance operations by performing journey‑level electrical construction, installation, maintenance, and repair work on facility systems, equipment, and fixtures. The role completes assigned work independently using trade‑standard methods, interprets blueprints and sketches for new or unusual tasks, and ensures electrical systems remain safe, functional, and compliant across sites supported from the Raleigh Area Satellite Yard. Daily work is conducted Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and overnight travel based on operational needs. The Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) coordinates all North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) construction and renovation efforts, working closely with the State Construction Office to bring projects to life. We represent the department on key property and building matters while keeping facilities running smoothly through expert support for mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and other essential systems. With a dedicated team specializing in design, project management, and sustainability, DECM helps ensure our facilities stay safe, efficient, and ready to serve.
