About The Position

Overview Xeris is a growth-oriented biopharmaceutical company committed to improving patient lives by developing and commercializing innovative products across a range of therapies. Xeris is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and has a strong foundation built on proprietary formulation technologies and deep expertise in clinical development and commercialization. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Medical Affairs Department. The Regional Medical Affairs internship will provide a broad understanding of the various roles and responsibilities within Regional Medical Affairs, including hands-on experience, real-world project exposure, training, and development opportunities. The summer intern will have the opportunity for participating and supporting various internal processes and activities in the Medical Affairs Department with the opportunity to work on both marketed and investigational products under the supervision of the Sr. Regional Medical Affairs Director- Midwest. The role will serve as an opportunity to assist, participate, and contribute as a medical and scientific liaison working in partnership with the Medical team.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be a graduate-level student pursuing either a PharmD, MD, DO, PhD or DNP.
  • Applicants must have completed at least 1 year of their graduate program.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0.
  • Returning to academic program at a credentialed institution for at least one semester post-internship.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Competencies : Written and Verbal Communication skills, Teamwork & Collaboration, Professionalism, Organizational skills, Problem-solving skills, Adaptability, Self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Learning the principles in providing medical information through scientific exchange in a fair-balanced manner.
  • Supporting the unsolicited medical information request follow-up process.
  • Collaborate with Regional Medical Affairs Directors (RMADs) and Congress Lead to support the planning and attendance of regional/local scientific conferences taking place to gain exposure to Xeris therapeutic areas of interest.
  • As assigned, collaborate with RMADs in medical and scientific engagements with healthcare community
  • Provide support for internal medical team meetings, including meeting preparation and presentations during meetings as assigned.
  • Understand the importance of internal and external cross- functional relationships.
  • Maintains a solid understanding and up to date knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area(s) and compound(s).
  • Participate in assigned Regional Medical Affairs projects, initiatives, and activities as identified and requested, which may include journal clubs, medical material development, presenting to Medical team members, etc.
  • Understanding administrative responsibilities, including training requirements.
  • Shadow various members of the Medical Affairs team which may include members of Medical Communication, Regional Medical Affairs, Medical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical, and other cross-functional partners as identified.
  • Actively participate in all Summer Intern programming and initiatives
  • At the conclusion of the internship, prepare a comprehensive review of the internship experience and present to the organization
