About The Position

SUMMARY Lead the materials management function for Champion, providing oversight to all US plants on materials management processes. Additionally provide oversight and support on key categories for the RFQ to purchasing agreement process. 30% of time will be spent on materials management functions and 70% of time will be spent on purchasing functions. RESPONSIBILITIES Work with the US plants to identify key opportunities for improvement in materials management and procurement practices. Provide guidance and oversight in diagnosing opportunities for reducing total materials costs. Provide oversight and management of key categories to plant materials management teams in managing RFQ to purchasing agreement process. Provides feedback and coaches plant management teams regarding materials management practices. Analyzes material costs and metrics and recommends solutions to improve metrics. Create and document materials management best practices and standard processes for the US plants. Create a training and development program to train plant materials teams on material management processes. Develop a recognition program to highlight outstanding improvements in materials processes and cost reductions across all US plants. Provide backup support for open plant materials management positions as needed. Required abilities, competencies and knowledge: Manufactured housing or construction industry experience of at least 5 years, preferred Plant or Corporate level materials management experience of at least 7 years Must have at least 3 years of prior procurement experience Strong negotiating skills Strong coaching and development skills Highly effective communication skills A strong focus on quality and service Live the Champion Operating Principles Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to make it fun and celebrate success! Travel: This position will require 25% travel to U.S. Plants. Reporting: This position will report to the VP of Purchasing. Requirements

  • Manufactured housing or construction industry experience of at least 5 years, preferred
  • Plant or Corporate level materials management experience of at least 7 years
  • Must have at least 3 years of prior procurement experience
