About The Position

The Dietitian provides clinically appropriate, medically necessary nutrition services to individuals receiving care in a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) outpatient setting. Services are delivered in accordance with OASAS, OMH, Medicaid, and CCBHC program standards, supporting integrated, recovery-oriented, and person-centered care. The Dietitian functions as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to address nutritional needs that impact physical health, behavioral health, and substance use treatment outcomes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of OASAS, OMH, and Medicaid regulatory frameworks, including documentation and medical necessity standards.
  • Experience working within integrated care, behavioral health, or substance use disorder treatment settings.
  • Ability to deliver services using a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive approach.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills with attention to accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ethical practice, and sound clinical judgment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential and active New York State licensure, as required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in outpatient, community-based, behavioral health, or substance use treatment settings preferred.
  • Experience in a CCBHC, OASAS-licensed, OMH-licensed, or Medicaid-funded program strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, screenings, and reassessments consistent with medical necessity, person-centered planning, and Medicaid documentation standards.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized nutrition care plans that align with the client’s overall treatment plan and level of care.
  • Provide individual and group nutrition counseling and education within the scope of practice and in compliance with OASAS and OMH service delivery requirements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, including medical providers, behavioral health clinicians, care coordinators, and peer staff, to support integrated care.
  • Participate in the integrated care system to ensure a wellness program is created.
  • Document all services in the electronic health record accurately, timely, and in compliance with Medicaid billing, encounter reporting, and audit requirements.
  • Ensure services provided are appropriate to the client’s diagnosis, functional level, and treatment goals.
  • Participate in treatment planning, case conferences, and utilization review activities as required.
  • Monitor client progress and modify interventions based on clinical need and treatment response.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OASAS, OMH, and DOH standards.
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures related to confidentiality, HIPAA, and client rights.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and compliance activities, including audits and chart reviews.
  • Support data collection and reporting requirements related to CCBHC quality measures and Medicaid services.
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to staff regarding nutrition-related concerns and best practices.
  • Maintain required professional licensure, registration, and continuing education in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Attend mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and supervision as required by the organization and regulatory bodies.
