About The Position

A healthcare facility in Gainesville, FL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Inpatient Surgical / Medical-Surgical Unit . The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care for post-surgical patients recovering from procedures such as abdominal, orthopedic, and general surgeries following discharge from the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role requires strong clinical skills to monitor patient recovery, administer treatments, and educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – Florida (or multistate RN license with ability to obtain Florida license within 60 days)
Minimum 1 year of recent Acute Care RN experience (within the last 2 years) .
Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred .
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association .
NIH Stroke Scale Certification required within 30 days of start .
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of start .
Must live within commutable distance (within 60 minutes) of the facility.
Must be available to work night shifts and rotating weekends .

Responsibilities

Provide post-surgical nursing care for patients recovering overnight or longer.
Monitor vital signs and patient conditions , and respond appropriately to changes.
Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed.
Perform wound care, pain management, and post-operative patient education .
Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) .
Function independently while managing a 7:1 patient-to-nurse ratio .
Follow all hospital policies, patient safety protocols, and confidentiality standards .
