The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, family-entered care to pediatric patients with an average length of stay of 24–72 hours in a mixed‑acuity critical care environment. The PICU primarily cares for children with acute respiratory compromise, including conditions such as RSV, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, and severe asthma exacerbations requiring high‑flow oxygen therapy, noninvasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP), or mechanical ventilation. Many admissions involve respiratory support and frequent assessment with rapid response to clinical changes. The unit also manages postoperative and surgical patients PICU Registered Nurses care for patients with sepsis or evolving shock, as well as metabolic and endocrine emergencies, with particular emphasis on diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and complex diabetes management. This role requires strong pediatric assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, proficiency with advanced respiratory and metabolic therapies, and effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high‑quality care in a fast‑paced pediatric ICU setting. We hire experienced RNs and also welcome new graduates, offering up to 12 weeks of orientation with dedicated preceptor support.
