We are staffed with RNs, ED techs and unit secretaries, providing specialized care for patients primarily diagnosed with respiratory failure and cardiac conditions. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care for acutely ill patients. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process, their skills in clinical judgment, critical thinking, prioritization, and time management to care for patients throughout the life span and with a variety of healthcare needs. The registered nursed also performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. Documents patient care provided. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs. Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program required with a current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Iowa or from a Compact State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months of hire
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within six (6) months of hire
• Recent RN experience

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year of Medical/Surgical or Critical Care nursing experience
• One (1) year of ER experience
• One (1) year of Psychiatry experience
