As a member of the Health Support Center (HSC) team, you’ll support those that are in our facilities who are interfacing and providing care to our patients and community members to positively impact our mission of making communities healthier ®. More about our team Our postpartum/nursery unit has 11 rooms with a 1:6 (3 couplets) patient ratio.  Our nurses in this department care for postpartum moms, newborns, post op GYN patients, and occasional antepartum patients (such as hyperemesis or pyelonephritis).  Additionally, these nurses attend deliveries, provide 1:1 care for infants requiring additional support and prepare infants for transfer when a higher level of care is required.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a current VA RN license
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support
  • Experience in acute care hospital, preferred
  • American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire

  • Bachelors preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
