Plans and administers professional nursing care in an operating room. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Evaluate, plan, implement, and document individualized nursing plan of care for patients ranging from 4 months - geriatric. Direct the work of technical or assistive staff supporting the operating room. Verify patient identity prior to surgery and confirm that all orders and consent forms are in place. Monitor the patient and assist the surgeon during the procedure. Must be able to demonstrate unit-specific competencies required by unit-specific checklists. Meet scheduling requirements including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or call. Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values. Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public. Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited RN program Required License/Certifications/Registrations Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas or compact state Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Education and Experience BSN strongly preferred Previous Operating Room experience Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations CNOR certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to apply the basic principles of nursing. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Keyboarding skills and basic computer skills. Multi-tasking and prioritization skills. Physical Requirements: With or without accommodation. Medium Work: Occasionally exerting up to 50 lbs - constantly exerting up to 10 lbs. 26-50% of the day may be standing or walking.
