About The Position

What Registered Nurse contributes to Cardinal Health Nursing is responsible for the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care. Examines patients and administers prescribed medications to facilitate healing and increase comfort. Nursing requires training and or licensed to care for patients. The Registered Nurse, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, will deliver treatment with an emphasis on assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of health and when indicated end of life comfort care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. This position is located at Denali Biomedical, which is a surgery center that sees patients from Fairbanks Urology. All surgeries take place on Wednesdays. This person will be working Tuesday-Thursday on a regular basis. They will be assisting with pre-op, pre-admission testing, chart preparation on Tuesdays, assisting with urology surgeries on Wednesdays and assisting with post-op triage and follow up on Thursdays.

Requirements

2-4 years of experience, preferred
Associate's degree in Nursing
Active Alaska state RN license in good standing
Ability to work Tuesdays-Thursdays

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
OR, PACU or pre-op RN experience preferred but not required. Team is willing to train on urology cases

Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, safe medication administration, mixing, and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Updates and maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Maintains a respectful cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
