About The Position

SAGE Redwood City is the most respected center for specialized and emergency veterinary services in the SF Bay Area. Our Internal Medicine team provides expert diagnostic and therapeutic care for complex medical conditions in companion animals. We utilize comprehensive lab work to uncover and manage the root cause of challenging cases. We work closely with clients to develop individualized treatment plans, offering both inpatient and outpatient care with a focus on long-term quality of life. Our Internal Medicine RVTs are essential in supporting the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with chronic and complex medical conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician license in the state of California.
  • Calm, professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.
  • Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • High level of venipuncture skills, math calculations, and patient handling

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on internal medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine department.
  • Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures including blood work, imaging, and endoscopy.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and wound care treatments under veterinarian supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their pet’s condition and treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
  • Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology.
  • Stay updated on advancements in internal medicine through continuing education.
  • Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
