In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. What you will be doing Job Qualifications 3 PM - 11:15 PM Weekend requirement EDUCATION – Required High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), may include specialized or vocational courses CERTIFICATION – Required American Heart Association Heartsaver CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE - Preferred Successful completion of a certified Patient Care Assistant training program EXPERIENCE – Required 1 year experience with patient Care Environment EXPERIENCE – Preferred 3-5 years of experience w th patient Care Environment SKILLS - Required Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service orientation. SKILLS - Preferred Knowledge of RIS & PACS systems. General knowledge of XL & Word. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs). ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians. HAZARDS Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other potentially infectious materials and Category 1 tasks are not a condition of employment. POSITION & UNIT ACCOUNTABILITIES Clinical Proficiency: Performs patient care duties as assigned and within scope. Collects objective data such as vital signs, height, weight, intake, and output. Assists RN / Prescriber with procedures as needed. Supports efficient triage/fast-tracking of patients. Obtains specimen collection as delegated. Prepares patients for examination, physical therapy, discharge, and procedures. Supports patients with all ADLs. Performs all patient care activities with compassion, dignity, and respect. Understands clinical workflows and priorities. Keeps patients safe by keeping patients within arms’s reach utilizing safe patient handling techniques. Standard Precautions & Aseptic Technique Infection Control - Understands principles of aseptic technique; observes the basic principles of aseptic technique. Demonstrates competency, safety, and use of Standard Precautions. Complies with policies and procedures concerning infection control and safety to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Follow infection control and safety procedures. Perform correct handwashing and use of alcohol-based sanitizers before/after patient care. Keeps the workspace clean and orderly. Complies with dress code policy and maintains a professional appearance (with natural fingernails neatly manicured and length of less than 1/4 inch long). Use the appropriate PPE. Inventory & Supply Management: Supports department organization and logistics. Provides feedback to the leadership team on supply/environmental needs. Performs unit procedures such as setting up oxygen, wheelchair/stretcher transport, and demonstrates safety with other units' equipment. Other procedures include checking unit refrigerators and recording temperatures on refrigerator daily logs, as applicable. Follows procedures for malfunctioning equipment as outlined by the department Documentation & Information Management: Maintains accurate documentation in the electronic health record, including medication Maintains the patient's medical records according to regulatory requirements and HSS policy. Upholds patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance). Follows hospital policy regarding sensitive patient information. Consistently adds self to the care team on the multi-provider schedule in EPIC. Documents patient care data into the EMR after collecting the data. Communication Competencies: demonstrate empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity. Provides timely feedback to the patient in a clear and concise manner. Follows an established chain of command, as defined by the unit/department standard, as applicable. Communicate effectively and professionally with prescribers, RNs and all members of the team, using appropriate medical terminology. Reports change in patient condition to the RN or prescriber in a timely manner. Gives verbal hand-offs and patient reports to RN and other colleagues, at breaks, change shifts and before leaving the clinical environment. Consistently communicates using respectful and courteous style. Communicates to an appropriate person if there are concerns with the work environment, when deadlines cannot be met and identify barriers to support resolution.
