We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Associate for our Compliance team. This is a remote position with potential travel into our main office in New York or the FreedomCare hub closest to you for meetings and/or collaboration. Department & Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Regulatory Affairs Associate who can also own policies and procedures (P&P) management to ensure our organization complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate, monitor regulatory developments, prepare and submit licensing materials and maintain internal P&Ps across the organization. This role supports multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely approvals and ongoing adherence to standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Public Policy, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management, licensing, or regulatory compliance in healthcare, Medicaid, or managed care (required).
  • Experience with state Medicaid/Medicare applications or regulatory filings (preferred)
  • This role requires in-depth knowledge and experience embodied by a seasoned professional with a full understanding of compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and regulatory knowledge are essential qualities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work with highly protective information
  • Ability to use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve services and deliverables of the department
  • Works on and solves problems of diverse scopes where analysis and/or perspective taking may be needed.
  • Works effectively and efficiently independently, receiving occasional direction and guidance from leadership and operating within established guidelines, policies, and/or regulations
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory monitoring & strategy
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Regulatory Affairs to track and communicate changes in local, regional, national, and international regulations that impact on our business.
  • Maintain a regulatory strategy aligned with business goals and timelines.
  • Contract Management:
  • Ensure all contracts with state and county agencies, Medicaid payors, and MCOs adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead Change of Ownership (CHOW) applications and lead the state licensure process for new markets.
  • Contract Oversight & Documentation:
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all documentation in support of contracts.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of contracts, including drafting, reviewing, and renewing agreements.
  • Maintain meticulous records of contracts, licensing documents, and compliance filings.
  • Application & Renewal Management
  • Lead the submission and tracking of new state Medicaid applications, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Policies & Procedures (P&P) management
  • Maintain comprehensive P&Ps that reflect regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain a centralized P&P governance framework, including version control, approval workflows, and change management.
  • Ensure P&Ps are accessible
  • Manage the lifecycle of P&Ps (creation, review, approval, distribution, training, obsolescence).
  • Coordinate with Compliance and Operations to ensure P&Ps are accurate and enforceable.
  • Additional Compliance duties as assigned
