About The Position

This advertisement is being used to fill multiple vacancies within the Board of Medicine’s Initial Licensure Unit and Licensure Maintenance and Registration Unit. Your Specific Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supervising regulatory staff within the Board of Medicine’s Initial Licensure Unit or Licensure Maintenance and Registration Unit. The Initial Licensure Unit supervisor position primarily oversees initial licensure of the medical doctor, physician assistant, and anesthesiologist assistant professions. The Licensure Maintenance and Registration Unit supervisor position primarily oversees Office Surgery and Pain Management Clinic Registrations, Pain Management Clinic Exemptions, and license renewals and reactivations.

Responsibilities

  • All supervisor duties for five (5) Regulatory Specialist II positions. This includes, but is not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. It also includes the responsibility for ensuring staff receive necessary training, that staff meetings are conducted on a regular basis, and that effective methods are utilized for optimal communication;
  • Assisting with the development of laws and rules, applications and forms related to initial licensure (Initial Licensure Unit supervisor) or Office Surgery and Pain-Management Clinic Registrations and Pain Management Clinic Exemptions (Licensure Maintenance and Registration Unit supervisor);
  • Managing inspections and payments for inspections for the Office Surgery Program and the Pain Management Clinic Program.
  • Updates and/or creates forms and applications for the Office Surgery Registration and Inspection Unit as well as the Pain-Management Clinic Registration and Inspection Program and Pain Management Clinic Exemptions;
  • Supervises staff responsible for processing initial applications for all professions in the Board of Medicine (Initial Licensure Unit supervisor) or responsible for renewals and reactivations of applicable Board of Medicine professions. This includes monitoring staff, performing background checks, ensuring deadlines are met, making changes in LEIDS, processing applications/reactivations if necessary and issuing refunds as appropriate;
  • Works with MQA’s renewal team and Licensure Services to complete the above duties and responsibilities;
  • Assists in coordinating the preparation of meeting agendas;
  • Responds to applicable zzzz mailboxes;
  • Researches laws, rules and regulations in preparing correspondence for the Governor, Secretary of the Department, Board Chairman, Executive Director and Program Administrator;
  • Ensures intake and referral of inquiries to the office are handled with optimal customer service and that receipt, recording and distribution of mail is accomplished timely and accurately;
  • Participates in the Board office management and leadership team;
  • Represents the Board and the department at meetings as needed and delivers presentations related to projects;
  • Handles special projects and activities as assigned, coordinates functions with other team members as needed, and performs other related work as required including serving on process improvement teams and other work groups.
