About The Position

Position Overview 1st Pet Veterinary Centers is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician with advanced training in rehabilitation therapy to join our growing team. This role focuses on providing physical rehabilitation services for canine and feline patients recovering from surgery, orthopedic injuries, neurologic conditions, or mobility-related diseases. The ideal candidate will have formal certification or training in canine rehabilitation therapy and underwater treadmill therapy and will work closely with veterinarians to carry out individualized rehabilitation plans designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall quality of life for our patients. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical skills, excellent patient handling, and a genuine passion for helping animals regain function and comfort through rehabilitation medicine. Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) or eligible for certification in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary clinical experience
  • Certification or formal training in canine rehabilitation therapy such as: - Certified Canine Rehabilitation Veterinary Technician (CCRVT/CCRVN) - Certified Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapist (CCAT) - Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT)
  • Certification or training in underwater treadmill therapy / aquatic rehabilitation
  • Experience administering therapeutic laser therapy treatments
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic conditions, neurologic recovery, and post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Excellent patient handling and low-stress restraint skills
  • Strong communication skills with both clients and veterinary teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in specialty hospitals or sports medicine settings
  • Fear Free Certification
  • Experience with advanced rehabilitation modalities such as electrotherapy or mobility therapy
  • Strong interest in sports medicine, orthopedic recovery, or working dog rehabilitation

Responsibilities

  • Perform rehabilitation therapy sessions for canine and feline patients under veterinary supervision
  • Administer underwater treadmill therapy and aquatic rehabilitation treatments
  • Assist with patient assessments including gait evaluation, range-of-motion measurements, and strength tracking
  • Implement individualized therapeutic exercise and mobility programs
  • Perform rehabilitation modalities including: - Therapeutic exercise programs - Balance and proprioception training - Range-of-motion exercises and stretching - Neuromuscular re-education - Therapeutic laser therapy treatments - Massage therapy and mobility support techniques
  • Assist with and administer laser therapy treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian to support pain management, inflammation reduction, and tissue healing
  • Maintain detailed rehabilitation records and patient progress notes
  • Educate pet owners on at-home therapy exercises and rehabilitation plans
  • Assist veterinarians in developing and adjusting treatment protocols
  • Ensure rehabilitation and aquatic therapy equipment is properly maintained and sanitized
  • Provide safe, compassionate handling for patients undergoing therapy
