Position Overview: Reporting to the Reinsurance Operations Manager, the Reinsurance Operations Analyst (‘Analyst’) will be responsible for supporting end-to-end post-placement and ongoing administration of ceded reinsurance agreements, including accurate treaty setup, timely financial and operational processing, and effective governance over ceded data, collateral, and compliance. Partners closely with Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Underwriting, Legal, and brokers/reinsurers to ensure treaty compliance, accurate reporting, and high-quality data supporting close and statutory reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in reinsurance operations, reinsurance accounting or administration, or insurance financial operations, with exposure to ceded reinsurance processing.
  • Working knowledge of ceded reinsurance concepts and contract terms, with the ability to interpret treaty requirements and translate them into operational activities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced close and reporting environment.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Support post-placement contract and treaty administration, including reviewing treaty terms and summarizing key provisions for downstream processing.
  • Assist with treaty setup and maintenance in reinsurance systems, including contract terms, layers, cessions, exclusions, and settlement terms, and support change control for updates and endorsements.
  • Maintain centralized reinsurance documentation, including treaty summaries, processing guidance, control evidence, and reference materials within established repositories.
  • Support ceded premium processing and month-end close activities, including validation of results, investigation of variances, and ensuring transactions align with contractual terms.
  • Prepare recurring reporting and settlement support for reinsurers and brokers, including bordereaux-style files and monthly or quarterly reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist with regulatory and statutory reporting requirements related to ceded reinsurance.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, examiners, and regulators during audits or examinations, as needed.
  • Support reinsurance accounting system initiatives, including implementations and enhancements.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and requests as assigned by management.
