Role Overview We are seeking a Reinsurance Manager to join our Reinsurance Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for all activities related to the management of Accounting/Reinsurance professionals, including administering the company’s reinsurance accounting policies and practices and the preparation of financial statements. As part of a dynamic team, you will oversee reinsurance reporting, financial analysis, and business process improvements while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience
  • 6 years of relevant and progressive experience in Accounting and/or Finance, including at least 3 years in Reinsurance Reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable business area
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

Responsibilities

  • Manage reinsurance reporting for assigned companies, including supervisory and analytical staff
  • Review and approve analysis and reports, including treaty settlements/billings and profit commissions
  • Review and approve journal entries for general ledger, sub-ledgers, and reconciliations
  • Approve financial documents in the SharePoint system
  • Manage intercompany payables and receivables
  • Manage letters of credit and related funding requirements
  • Respond to inquiries from reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, auditors, and issuing companies
  • Analyze, propose, and implement changes to business processes and systems
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for Senior Management, Auditors, Actuaries, and Accounting
  • Oversee timely collection of receivables and payables to reinsurers/brokers
  • Partner with leadership on hiring decisions and workload distribution
