About The Position

Position Summary The Release Train Engineer (RTE) supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the IRES contract. This role facilitates scaled agile processes, drives program execution alignment, and ensures engineering and sustainment teams maintain predictable velocity, quality delivery, and compliance with enterprise processes. The RTE collaborates across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, using Agile best practices to manage program increments, reporting, and continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Agile Process Facilitation Lead and facilitate Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) processes, including: Backlog Administration Scrum of Scrums Program Increment (PI) Planning & Reviews Retrospectives Backlog Refinement Daily Standups Facilitate sprint planning, partner with Product Owners to refine backlogs, and ensure teams commit to realistic sprint goals. Program Management & Reporting Develop and maintain Agile documentation, including PI Planning Roadmaps, resource allocation reports, and project progress summaries. Produce, interpret, and present Agile program metrics. Team Coaching & Performance Support Mentor and coach teams on Agile practices. Support teams to improve delivery performance and velocity. Promote adoption of disciplined processes across engineering and sustainment teams. Lifecycle & Technical Alignment Apply system and solution architecture/engineering life cycle experience to ensure program alignment and execution success. Interact effectively with internal and external customers across multiple levels. Project Execution & Tool Utilization Ensure projects meet cost and schedule targets. Utilize MDA approved tools such as Microsoft Teams, Planner, Project, Jira, GitLab, or similar systems. Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • 10+ years of full time general work experience (may be reduced with advanced education).
  • 5+ years of directly related experience.
  • 1+ years in a management or leadership role.
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • SAFe Certification.
  • PMI-ACP or DASSM Certification.
  • Experience managing high-value, complex projects.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • SIEM domain knowledge.
