About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a skilled Relief Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team in Midtown, NY. As a Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia in patients, triaging emergency cases, performing digital radiography, and obtaining and interpreting vital signs. You will also be involved in mentoring and training other co-workers, addressing client concerns with patience and empathy.

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician certification.
• Experience in veterinary medicine, particularly in emergency and critical care.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

• VTS credentialing.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and emergency triage.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
