About The Position

We’re hiring an experienced Industrial Pump Mechanic to join our Detroit Pump service center in Warren, MI. This role focuses on the tear-down, inspection, rebuild, and testing of industrial pumps and rotating equipment within an OEM-authorized repair environment. This is a primarily shop-based role for a dependable mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship and consistent execution. Our service offerings include system analysis and design, applications engineering, custom fabrication of equipment packages, automation and controls, equipment repair, and thermal hard coatings. tencarva.com The Role This is a rebuild-focused position - not a production maintenance role. You will disassemble, inspect, diagnose, rebuild, and test a variety of industrial pumps and rotating equipment to OEM standards. Equipment Includes: Centrifugal pumps (ANSI/API) Vertical turbine pumps Multistage and split-case pumps Positive displacement pumps Air-operated diaphragm pumps Gearboxes, blowers, valves, and other rotating equipment

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience repairing/rebuilding industrial pumps or rotating equipment
  • Ability to independently complete full tear-down and rebuild
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and parts diagrams
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • We are looking for a professional, reliable mechanic who works well in a team environment and takes ownership of their work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with centrifugal and vertical turbine pumps preferred
  • Familiarity with laser alignment
  • Basic manual machining exposure is helpful but not required
  • Experience with gearboxes, blowers, or related equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and inspect customer equipment
  • Diagnose root cause of failure
  • Prepare repair scopes and parts requirements
  • Rebuild pumps and rotating equipment to OEM standards
  • Replace bearings, seals, shafts, impellers, and wear components
  • Perform laser alignment
  • Assist with field troubleshooting, equipment removal, installation, and start-up when required
  • Perform limited manual machining as needed to support rebuild work
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused shop environment
  • Test rebuilt equipment to ensure performance and reliability
