About The Position

This is an open competitive advertisement for a Career Service position located at Martin Correctional Institution in Staff development. The mission of the Staff Development department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide comprehensive training and professional development opportunities for all staff members. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be a certified CJSTC instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Development Coordination: Oversee all staff development and training activities within the assigned service center area.
  • Budget Management: Exercise independent judgment in managing the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Trust Fund Budget.
  • Policy Formulation: Assist management in creating training policies and procedures.
  • Statewide Training Implementation: Implement, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate training programs on a statewide basis.
  • Program Administration: Plan, manage, and administer training programs within the assigned region and other state locations as directed.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Conduct research, collect training data, and prepare reports as instructed.
  • Compliance and Coordination: Ensure all training activities comply with laws, rules, policies, and procedures, and coordinate with Central Office for evaluation.
  • New Officer Support: Manage and coordinate activities for newly hired officers, act as a mentor, and ensure proper training and certification in collaboration with Personnel, FDLE, and external academies.
