In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university. Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. This position will contribute to a research project focused on efficient and optimal robotics. You will design and implement novel methods for robot policy learning with high sample efficiency and optimality guarantees and validate the performance on robotics systems and other tasks assigned to you

Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred in Robotics or related field.
  • Solid knowledge of probability and statistics, linear algebra, and dynamical systems
  • Programming expertise in Python or Julia (required), C++ desirable
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
  • Successful background check

Responsibilities

  • Create algorithmic solutions for sample-efficient robot policy learning
  • Validate and polish solutions in simulation
  • Collaborate with team members on the technical implementation and experimental validation of the tools.
  • Document research, development, and experimental results through written reports and presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
