About The Position

Eurofins PSS is seeking a Research Associate II with a strong background in cell biology and bioengineering to support the development of microphysiological (organ‑on‑chip) and bioprinted in vitro models for drug discovery. This on‑site role, based in Cambridge, MA, involves hands‑on experimentation, model development, and daily support of a collaborative research team.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. in Bioengineering, Cell & Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Immunology, or related field (1–2+ years relevant experience),
  • or
  • M.S. in a related field (0–1+ years experience).
  • 2+ years hands‑on mammalian cell culture experience with strong aseptic technique.
  • Experience working with biomaterials or hydrogels for 3D cell culture applications.
  • Exposure to microphysiological systems, bioprinting, or other advanced 3D culture technologies.
  • Familiarity with basic microscopy for evaluating cell health and experimental progression.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation discipline.
  • Proven ability to execute protocols, collaborate effectively, and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Ability to work on‑site and follow established laboratory practices.
  • Self‑motivated, eager to learn, and team‑oriented.
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with stem cell culture or differentiation.
  • Experience with stem cell–derived organoids.
  • Familiarity with MIMETAS or similar organ‑on‑chip platforms.
  • Industry experience in pharmaceutical research or drug discovery.
  • Data analysis skills in MATLAB, R, and/or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Support the fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of complex microphysiological systems and 3D bioprinted tissue models.
  • Perform routine mammalian cell culture using high‑quality aseptic technique.
  • Prepare, characterize, and handle biomaterials—including hydrogels and ECM components—for use in 3D culture platforms.
  • Assist with immunofluorescence staining, microscopy, and image‑based analysis workflows.
  • Reconstitute, aliquot, and prepare reagents, media, and assay‑ready materials.
  • Execute multi‑step experimental protocols with accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain complete and accurate electronic lab notebook documentation.
  • Support lab operations including inventory, ordering, equipment upkeep, and workflow coordination.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with scientists across teams and sites to advance model development efforts.
