About The Position

AIR is seeking a Research Associate to support applied research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects within the Human and Community Development program. The Research Associate will work as part of interdisciplinary project teams and contribute to research and implementation efforts across a range of policy areas. This role may support federally funded initiatives, including work related to health systems governance and modernization efforts, such as AIR’s support of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN). The Research Associate will contribute to projects in the Human and Community Development program. This program generates evidence-informed solutions and fosters cross-sector collaboration across the following interconnected portfolios: Community Health: Evidence translation and communication to inform health care choices, healthy behaviors, and system improvement; health systems governance support; housing and homelessness; behavioral health; disaster preparedness; and rural health. Children & Families: Early childhood, early learning, childcare, maternal and infant health, and child welfare. Safety & Justice: Violence prevention and intervention, youth and adult diversion services, wraparound facilities and reentry supports, and national defense and law enforcement readiness. Youth Development: Out-of-school time and summer programs, youth sports and arts, adolescent science, informal learning (e.g., libraries and museums), and youth economic mobility. This position will contribute primarily to one portfolio, with opportunities to support projects across other portfolios based on their skills and experience. This position has the flexibility to work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of AIR’s U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree in the social sciences or related fields.
  • Experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative data collection.
  • Experience using qualitative (e.g., Atlas.TI, NVivo, or Dedoose) or quantitative (e.g., STATA or R) data analysis software programs.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
  • Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in compiling and synthesizing information (e.g., conducting literature reviews and policy scans).
  • Prepare and assist with primary source data collection through interviews, focus groups, and surveys; organize materials; and contribute to content development.
  • Participate in the collection and review of research and evaluation data.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of findings.
  • Prepare documents, portions of reports, briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses.
  • Support proposal writing and business development activities.
  • Support project management tasks, including developing project timelines, coordinating meetings, and tracking project progress.
