About The Position

The function of the Research Associate in our Clinical Effectiveness department is to assist in organizing, coordinating and maintaining efforts related to research studies and other outcome studies. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Continuous Improvement and the principle investigators, duties include evaluation of patients for participation to studies, completion of diagnostic interviews and assessments, participation in interdisciplinary team meetings, creation and monitoring of measurable goals, collaboration with other staff in the coordination of care, and the analysis of collected data.

Strong interpersonal skills needed, due to interaction with professional staff.
Must be able to work independently and complete assignments within specified timeframes.
Must be highly proficient in verbal and written communication skills.
Position requires walking, sitting and standing.
Lifting is moderate; must be capable of lifting a minimum of twenty (20) pounds.
Reaching, handling, grasping and manual dexterity are necessary to operate various pieces of office equipment.
Stooping, bending, kneeling and flexible movements are required to work with orientation equipment.
Verbal and hearing ability required to interact with patients and employees.
Numerical ability required to maintain records and operate a computer.
Able to plan, control and direct all aspects of employee relations.
Tact required to interact effectively with employees and professional staff.
Logical thinking and discretion required to make decisions in initiating and implementing policies and procedures and standards.
Able to read and communicate through written, verbal and auditory skills and abilities.
Physically/Mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per post-employment physical.
Master’s degree in psychology or counseling preferred or equivalent experience is required.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of a doctoral program in psychology and completed all relevant didactic and practicum work, preferred.

Responsibilities

Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team including: Clinical Research Coordinator, Research Assistants, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Nurses, and Education Specialists.
Collect, review, and analyze data, including literature/periodicals search.
Assist in writing proposals and summaries of research studies.
Present research results at meetings and engage in result publication (writing).
Protect outcome study materials appropriate to ensure clients’ confidentiality.
Ensure quality control of the databases by performing periodic audits.
Recommend program revisions based upon patient and staff feedback as well as Rogers Improvement System (RIS) data
Participate in Rogers committees to promote positive problem-solving and improve services.
Use knowledge of patient rights to act as patient advocate and to respond to patient grievances.
Participate in weekly supervisory meetings conducted by a designated licensed psychologist.
Be involved in the learning and application of standards relevant to the studies carried out.
Participate in in-services/seminars and other meetings to increase involvement and awareness of regulations.
Proactively participate in Rogers committees, meetings, and team projects.
Demonstrate punctuality and preparedness.
Demonstrate effective chairperson skills, if applicable.
Demonstrate good organizational skills with agenda and minute preparation.
Contribute in a positive, solution-focused manner.
Conduct evaluations to determine participant status and appropriateness for participation to the studies/program in compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.
Review participation and recruitment status with the Vice President of Continuous Improvement and Principle Investigators.
Complete evaluation criteria and clinician rated assessments on participants to the studies.
Provide crisis intervention as needed, when appropriate.
Analyze and report study data to Rogers stakeholders.
Interact effectively with a variety of people as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Attend required educational program and supervisory sessions as directed.
Assist in promoting a team atmosphere by treating individuals with respect and honesty and by using direct communication and active listening skills.

Participate in the Rogers Improvement System (RIS) program
Gain understanding of the RIS process.
Apply the RIS model to your department’s activities.
Participate and/or create RIS teams that lead to improvement in other hospital areas.
Educate and involve self in the system and department’s RIS plans.
