The Boni research group, based at the Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine (IGEM) in the Department of Biology at Temple University’s School of Science & Technology, is looking to hire a Research Associate with interest in addressing the need for global health planning for the recent malaria emergence. The Boni research group is focused on mathematical modeling of response strategies to the current urgent problem in Africa of responding to the recent (2020-2021) emergence of artemisinin resistance on the continent. These mathematical models are used to evaluate different response strategies when drug resistance levels are too high. Our research group is currently building national-level mathematical models of malaria transmission for five African countries to forecast their drug-resistance situations several years into the future. The Research Associate will play a vital role in assembling data for different countries’ epidemiological and drug-resistance situations, parameterization of country-level scenarios with all the assembled data and building and/or visualizing additional models to make near-term and long-term malaria forecasts. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a grant funded position.
