We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated Research Associate to join the Automation Team within Controlled Environments. We are looking for candidates who take initiative, love to learn, work hard, and have a stable work history.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and one year experience in a related field
  • Excellent communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and a positive attitude
  • The ability work well independently
  • The drive to seek out necessary information to aid in preparation and planning of weekly tasks
  • Close attention to detail, and ability to follow standard operating and safety/ergonomics protocols
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and a willingness to gain competency with internally developed research software
  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds and perform repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round

Responsibilities

  • Manage the schedule for all of the various tasks and activities which happen in automation
  • Communicate with other groups within Controlled Environments for upcoming requests for automation
  • Ensure proper and timely execution of tasks happening within automation
  • Execute on plant care tasks for various crops according to a defined schedule
  • Be responsible for execution of autonomous robot activity and prepping and monitoring workload throughout the day
  • Troubleshoot and document automation issues and correct errors within the system
  • Executes plant care tasks for various crops
  • Works once every 6th weekend, with comp days
  • Is “on-call” for automation support every third or fourth week
