The Research Development Manager will implement a wide range of strategic, proactive and capacity building activities designed to enable and enhance academic research. Working with academic leaders and faculty and student researchers, this person will identify target areas of strength and emerging opportunities, and develop proposals that align with university, state and federal priorities. This position focuses on supporting faculty, staff and students by helping them secure funding and build collaborations, while ensuring that they are well informed of emerging opportunities. Key responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities, assisting with grant proposal preparation and submission, and fostering interdisciplinary teams. The Research Development manager supports early-stage identification, analysis, planning and development of strategic, multidisciplinary funding opportunities and enables and enhances the competitiveness of research programs and proposals for external support through strategic, proactive and capacity building activities, including funding opportunity identification, research team building and outreach activities, with the ultimate goals of securing large-scale extramural research awards. The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, self-motivated and able to exercise considerable independent judgement.
