As a Research Engineer for the Radiology Research Core, you will analyze, investigate and plan specific engineering criteria, characteristics and features to support project goals. In this role, you will perform MRI scans for research protocols, including studies focused on neurological, musculoskeletal and cancer imaging. You will also work extensively with imaging data for multiple studies, supporting data processing, imaging analysis and data pipeline development. Additional responsibilities include performing data quality checks, coordinating research scans and determining patient eligibility to ensure studies are conducted accurately and efficiently. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in biomedical, mechanical or electrical engineering or in a related field
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, investigate and plan specific engineering criteria, characteristics and features to meet assignment goals.
  • Perform routine engineering investigations in support of current research or product development efforts using engineering software analysis tools.
  • Prepare design sketches or drawings for components, sub-assemblies, processes or equipment using CAD or 3-D solid modeling software.
  • Assist with the design, development and evaluation of prototype medical devices, equipment and software.
  • Assist with the preparation and evaluation of test protocols and test specimens.
  • Prepare charts, graphs and documentation in support of articles for publication, project reports and grant applications.
  • Perform MRI scans for research protocols, including studies focused on neurological, musculoskeletal and cancer imaging.
