The Advanced Technology Development group is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable research science engineer at ADI’s Wilmington, MA site. The candidate will join the team developing state-of-the art semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes used for many of ADI’s leading power management and precision analog products. Key responsibilities include the design and execution of experiments to optimize device structure & performance, unit process development, and process integration. The role involves interaction with a multidisciplinary team of process, device, manufacturing, reliability, and circuit design engineers.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related fields.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of semiconductor processing techniques, materials and device physics is essential.
  • Experience with electronic device characterization techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Highly skilled in time management and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on projects
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Comprehension of electronic device process/performance interactions is a plus.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following techniques is preferred: deposition, dry etching, photolithography.
  • Knowledge in wide band gap materials and devices is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and execute process and device simulations to guide development.
  • Develop and implement designed experiments, collect and analyze data, and identify trends and anomalies.
  • Draw conclusions and make data-driven decisions.
  • Perform electrical characterization of electronic devices (active and passive devices).
  • Maintain detailed records of process parameters, experiments, and results.
  • Generate reports and present results to colleagues.
  • Design and layout device and/or test patterns to assess functionality/performance/acceptance
  • Identify and resolve device performance or process-related issues; assess device or materials/structure reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot semiconductor manufacturing processes and transfer new technologies into high-volume production.
