About The Position

Carry out experiments in the field of immunology and cellular immunotherapy including: tissue culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, and animal work. Support the day-to-day needs of the lab including maintenance of inventories, equipment and regulatory documents. Train and orient new lab members and establish and maintain lab SOPs. Position contingent upon funding.

Requirements

  • Research Specialist B: B.A./B.S. degree in biology or related sciences and 1 to 2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills are desired.
  • Research Specialist C: Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience or skills in the areas of flow cytometry, mouse model techniques, and computational techniques are desired.

Responsibilities

  • Research Specialist B primary functions will ensure day-to-day operations of the lab including purchasing, maintenance of maintain laboratory reagent and supply inventories, and maintenance of laboratory records.
  • The latter will include the laboratory’s IBC registrations, IACUC protocols, and assisting the PI with IRB protocol maintenance.
  • Additional duties will be to assist with experimental procedures including clinical sample processing (supporting clinical trials), primary T cell and cell-line culture, basic molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, ELISA, and supporting the needs of animal experiments.
  • For a Research Specialist C, the above duties in addition having supervisory duties to include: orienting new graduate students and postdocs, training and supervising junior research specialists, and students (high school, undergraduate and post-bac), maintaining lab SOPs, creating, and maintaining lab meeting schedules.
