Reporting to the Director of Modality, Acquisition, Cognition Lab, the Research Support Specialist provides support to the operations of the NIH-funded Protactile Kids (PTK) project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of one year of experience with office administration, program coordination, or a related field
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Director with the logistics of feedback and evaluations with the team to ensure a productive and collaborative work environment.
  • Monitors PTK project activities and logistics from initiation to completion, including reinforcing and supervising team responsibilities, developing work plans, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and grant budget.
  • Coordinates and engages in dissemination activities to promote and share project findings, including organizing and participating in workshops, training, presentations, and publishing peer-reviewed papers.
  • Coordinates logistics on PTK research activities with the Director and PTK team members, including PTK managers and the Co-Navigator coordinator.
  • Assists immersive Protactile training and support for PTK’s hires, including PT experts and mentors, co-navigators, and parents of enrolled and prospective DB kids.
  • Assists the Director with the development of project operating protocols to support consistency in project operations and monitoring, and performance data collection.
  • Assists the Director with identifying and applying for new funding opportunities.
  • Assists the Director in coordinating staffing needs, staffing, and budgeting decisions.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to belonging in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
  • Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
  • Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.
