About The Position

Research Tech/Life Science Pu Lab, Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Albuquerque, NM The Pu Lab in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of New Mexico is seeking a highly motivated Research Tech/Life Science to support ongoing research focused on metabolic regulation and organelle biology. This position will primarily involve mouse work, with additional responsibilities in laboratory support and management.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours
  • At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Cell culture and aseptic technique
  • Western blotting and molecular cloning
  • Basic cell biology and molecular biology techniques
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related life science field
  • Minimum of one year of relevant laboratory experience, especially involving in animal work
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and genotype mouse lines
  • Set up and monitor diet-based experiments
  • Perform GTT, ITT, DEXA, and tissue collection
  • Conduct histological analyses, including H&E staining and immunohistochemistry (IHC)
  • Contribute to lab management, ordering, and maintenance. Assist IBC and IACUC protocol submission and renewal
  • Assist in mentoring junior lab members and trainees
