About The Position

The Hall Director (HD) is a live-in position responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community that promotes student success, personal development, and academic achievement. The HD is responsible for supervising student staff, implementing community-building initiatives, and managing operational responsibilities to create a thriving and supportive living-learning environment. The HD contributes to Hinds Community College’s commitment to student success, inclusion, and institutional excellence. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in residence life, student engagement, or related higher education fields .
  • Proven leadership and mentorship experience with diverse student populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related discipline.
  • Experience supervising and developing student staff.
  • Familiarity with crisis response, facilities management, and residential programming models .

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Supervision: Recruit, train, and supervise Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants; facilitate staff meetings and evaluations; lead student leadership initiatives like RHA.
  • Community Engagement: Foster a welcoming environment, plan educational programs, maintain visibility in the hall, and collaborate with campus partners.
  • Crisis Response: Serve in on-call rotation; respond to student emergencies and incidents; maintain accurate documentation; support student wellbeing.
  • Administrative Management: Oversee Hall operations including occupancy, safety, policy enforcement, desk management, and summer programs.
  • Communication & Inclusion: Maintain professional communication with students, families, and staff; support diversity and inclusion through programs and daily interactions. Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
