About The Position

The Resident Services Coordinator I (Senior Housing) supports older adults living in affordable senior housing by providing resident engagement, service coordination, and referrals that promote safety, independence, wellness, and housing stability. This position serves as a frontline resource for residents, helping them navigate benefits, access supportive services, and remain stably housed. The RSC I works collaboratively with Property Management, Senior Wellness, and community partners, escalating higher-acuity needs to senior staff as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Gerontology, or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in resident services, social services, or community-based work. Experience working with seniors or older adults preferred
  • Familiarity with senior service systems (Medicare, Medi-Cal, Social Security, IHSS).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general assistance, advocacy, and referrals related to supportive and social services for senior residents.
  • Conduct basic needs assessments and identify risks related to health, safety, isolation, or housing stability.
  • Support residents in understanding tenant rights, lease obligations, and housing policies.
  • Assist residents with benefits navigation, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Social Security, SSI, and IHSS (no eligibility determinations).
  • Support residents in setting up personal safety and stability tools, such as medical alert systems (e.g., Life Alert), automatic bill pay, and direct deposit.
  • Coordinate referrals for in-home supportive services, transportation, meal delivery, healthcare access, and mobility resources.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating on-site wellness, educational, and social activities tailored to senior residents.
  • Support food access programs, including coordination of food distribution and outreach.
  • Promote resident participation and reduce social isolation through community-building activities.
  • Support Resident Association activities and elections, as applicable.
  • Work closely with Property Management and Maintenance to identify resident concerns impacting housing stability.
  • Maintain relationships with senior service providers and healthcare-related partners.
  • Coordinate visiting service providers and on-site services as appropriate.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and established protocols.
  • Identify and report suspected abuse, neglect, or self-neglect to Adult Protective Services and internal supervisors, as required by law.
  • Promptly report incidents, safety concerns, or observed risks.
  • Accurately document resident interactions, referrals, and outcomes.
  • Maintain organized resident service files and assist with required reports.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support resident services operations.
