Position Summary: The Residential Coordinator is responsible for fostering safe, inclusive, and engaging residential communities that support students’ academic success, personal development, safety, and wellbeing. This role coordinates and administers a core functional area of the University Housing program across an assigned region of residential communities, serving approximately 1,500–2,000 students. The position provides leadership to undergraduate staff, collaborates with campus partners, and responds to student needs, conduct issues, and crisis situations. Work Unit: University Housing oversees 15 on-campus residence halls and four apartment communities, that includes first-year students through to families. Its mission is to create vibrant, inclusive communities that enrich the on-campus housing experience by supporting academic success, personal and social development, and global engagement. Salary Range: $50,000 - $52,000 Essential Job Duties: Coordinate and administer a core functional area (Community Development, Wellbeing, Conduct, or Operations) across a region of residential communities in alignment with University Housing and HDS goals. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate undergraduate student staff; provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development support. Create inclusive residential communities that promote student engagement, academic success, wellbeing, and retention through intentional programming and support initiatives. Adjudicate student conduct cases and address behavioral, safety, and policy concerns using educational and restorative practices, as applicable to functional assignment. Collaborate with campus partners, faculty, and internal HDS units to support students of concern, respond to incidents with high community impact, and deliver coordinated services. Participate in on-call rotations, crisis response, and emergency management to support residential communities, including evening, weekend, and break coverage as required. Apply analytical judgment to resolve complex student, staff, and community issues, including roommate conflicts, academic concerns, and student support needs. Make decisions regarding supervision, delegation, performance accountability, and development of undergraduate staff. Determine appropriate levels of confidentiality and discretion when managing sensitive student and personnel matters. Interpret and apply University Housing and HDS policies, recommending process or policy improvements as needed. During crisis situations, assess risk, initiate communication protocols, and determine appropriate resources and referrals for students and communities. Supervision: Directly supervises 12–40 undergraduate student staff Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field by start date. Minimum Experience: Demonstrated commitment to student development and community development. A demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability to work with, various communities. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work or a related field by start date. Demonstrated commitment to academic success (i.e. working with residential learning communities, faculty members, academic focus programs/initiatives, etc.). Student conduct experience. Crisis management experience. Previous supervision experience (minimum of 9 months experience). Previous University Housing live-in experience.
