About The Position

The Residential Landscape Estimator provides essential estimating and administrative support to our Landscape Design team. This role focuses on preparing accurate, timely estimates and project documentation so our designers can focus on client relationships and creative development. You'll work closely with designers, project managers, and vendors to ensure every project is priced correctly, well-documented, and ready for a smooth handoff to installation.

Requirements

  • Experience in landscape estimating, construction estimating, or a related administrative/technical field.
  • Strong understanding of landscape materials, installation methods, and basic construction principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape plans, sketches, and designer notes.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, estimating tools, and basic project management software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills for internal collaboration (no direct customer sales required).
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CAD-based or landscape design software (viewing, not designing).
  • Knowledge of local plant varieties, hardscape products, and seasonal availability.
  • Experience working in a landscape, garden center, or construction environment.
  • Comfort working with numbers, spreadsheets, and cost modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Review designer concepts, plans, and notes to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Prepare material take-offs, labor calculations, equipment needs, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Maintain and update pricing databases for plants, hardscape materials, and labor rates.
  • Request and track subcontractor quotes and vendor pricing.
  • Build estimate packets, proposals, and internal project documentation for designer review.
  • Ensure all estimates align with company standards, margins, and production capabilities.
  • Support the handoff process from design to operations by preparing clear, organized project files.
  • Assist with scheduling site measurements or follow-up information needed by designers.
  • Track estimate revisions and maintain organized records for each project.
  • Collaborate with project managers to compare estimated vs. actual job costs and adjust future estimating practices.
