About The Position

The Residential Nurse provides professional nursing care to individuals residing in CTH II homes and other assigned program locations. This position ensures that all medical, health, and safety needs are met in accordance with physician orders, Agency policies, and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required
  • South Carolina Nursing License (RN)
  • Clear written English communication
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Positive interpersonal skills and time management
  • Proficiency with computer software and willingness to learn new programs
  • Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and handle emergency situations
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to train and mentor staff on medical procedures and health-related topics
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; assist with adult transfers as needed
  • Frequent movement: standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varied environments
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and physical aggression
  • Use of safety equipment (gloves, eye/ear protection) may be required
  • May be assigned to alternate locations or shifts
  • Must operate agency vehicles safely, including at night

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred; experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to residents in accordance with established Agency policies, procedures, and medical standards
  • Administer prescribe medications and treatments accurately as ordered by the physician
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect agency-issued credentials
  • Schedule individuals for medical, laboratory, and specialty appointments as needed
  • Monitor and update Medication Administration Records (MARS) for accuracy and compliance
  • Identify and report discrepancies in physician orders, diet instructions, or treatment plans
  • Provide first aide and emergency medical response as needed; document all incidents and on-call encounters in Therap
  • Assist in the administration of vaccines for staff and residents (e.g. PPD, Flu, new hire TB screenings)
  • Provide staff training and guidance on medical conditions, medication changes, potential side effects, dietary requirements, use of medical equipment, and medication error prevention
  • Evaluate and document individual injuries, report critical or uncertain injuries immediately
  • Communicate with families and guardians regarding residents’ medical appointments, treatments, and health status
  • Conduct annual swallowing assessments and other health-related evaluations as required
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule; carry Agency-issued phone and respond promptly to emergency calls
  • Provide ongoing training and oversight of staff administering medications to ensure compliance with physician orders and best practices
  • Maintain flexibility to work across multiple program locations as needed
  • Safely transport individuals to activities, appointments, and outings
  • Operate agency vehicles, wheelchair lifts, and restraints as trained
  • Follow agency transportation and safety protocols
  • Report maintenance or repair needs
  • Attend meetings and complete ongoing training as required
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the agency’s mission and operational needs
