About The Position

As a Resource Manager - Tax, you’ll play a critical role in helping our Tax practice operate at its best by ensuring the right people are on the right work at the right time. This role sits at the intersection of workforce planning, data, and relationship management. You’ll partner closely with Partners, Directors, Talent Development, and engagement teams to manage capacity, forecast needs, and support both short- and long-term staffing decisions. This is a high-visibility opportunity for someone who enjoys working cross-functionally, influencing decision-making, and building scalable, people-centered processes to support a growing resource management function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; accounting, finance, or business-related fields preferred.
  • 4–6 years of experience in public accounting, tax, or a related professional services environment.
  • 1–3+ years of resource management experience required; 2+ years preferred.
  • Prior client-facing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of tax engagement workflows, deadlines, and leverage models.
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Experience pulling, analyzing, and presenting data to leadership.
  • Familiarity with Workday or other resource management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Resource Management & Workforce Planning
  • Drive holistic staffing strategies that balance utilization, delivery needs, and a positive professional experience.
  • Manage day-to-day deployment and support monthly and annual scheduling cycles across Tax engagements.
  • Forecast capacity and demand, anticipating staffing conflicts and proactively recommending solutions.
  • Partner with engagement leaders to assess leverage needs, backfills, and short- and long-term workforce plans.
  • Utilize CohenWorks and other resource management tools to track availability, assignments, and utilization.
  • Data, Reporting & Insights
  • Analyze and present workforce data to support leadership decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Monitor key metrics including availability, utilization, pipeline, backlog, and open seat status.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting using Excel 1 and related tools.
  • Leverage automation and reporting enhancements to improve transparency and insights.
  • Support continuous improvement of resource management processes, reporting, and data accuracy.
  • Leadership Partnership & Collaboration
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Partners and Tax leadership, offering recommendations and confidently pushing back when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Talent Development and Career Advisors on onboarding, career growth, and skill development.
  • Engage professionals to understand career goals, preferences, and development opportunities.
  • Act as a connector across pods, teams, and leaders to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Strategic Initiatives & Process Development
  • Help build and scale the firm’s resource management function
  • Support or lead implementation and enhancement of resource management software and workflows.
  • Contribute to strategic workflow design, deployment models, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, visibility, and consistency across scheduling and staffing processes.
