About The Position

Examines and treats patients with breathing-related conditions, performs diagnostic testing, and collaborates with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. Provides patient education on therapies and medication use; performs physiotherapy and related treatments. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; may perform bedside PFTs, EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered. Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment. Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions. Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices. Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources. Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness. Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment. Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels. Participates in performance improvement and required education. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in state of practice
  • BCLS
