About The Position

The Retail Accounting Manager provides strategic leadership over retail accounting functions, delivering comprehensive financial analysis, reconciliations, and performance reporting. This role identifies trends and improvement opportunities, develops actionable recommendations, and leads initiatives to enhance financial accuracy, controls, and overall business performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
  • Strong knowledge of Excel – Pivot Table and VLookUp
  • MS Dynamics GP knowledge is preferred
  • Proficient in account analysis, financial report writing, debits/credits, and financial concepts
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Retail Accounting Department to ensure accurate and timely financial reports, reconciliations, projections, and responses to annual audit inquiries.
  • Technically strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking knowledge. Must have ability to complete complex analyses, reconciliations, and insightful reports.
  • Manages the activities of the Accounts Payable Department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, vendor evaluations, tax reporting (1099), etc.
  • Responsible for the management of retail accounts receivable, credit card activity and reconciliation, retail cash receipts management and application, and fuel inventory management.
  • Ad hoc projects and analyses as they arise.
  • Establish and maintain systems of controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers, management, clients, franchisees, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff involved in fuel-related transactions.
  • Collaborate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies during audits and reviews.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for fuel-related financial inquiries.
