About The Position

Retail Associates at NOC's Grove Park Inn in Asheville store provide our guests with extraordinary customer experiences by sharing their passion for the activities and products that NOC promotes and sells. Ideal candidates for this position are knowledgeable about the outdoors, passionate about customer service, and committed to NOC's Core Values: Lead by Example, Service Before Self, Do the Right Thing, Work Hard/Play Hard and Make It Happen.

This position reports the Store Manager. We are looking for applicants that can join our team on a year-round basis. Ideal applicants will be able to work during weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Requirements

• Must be self-sufficient and work independently as well as contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Able to demonstrate patience and enthusiasm while communicating with potential customers.
• Ability to work accurately under stress and pressure to meet competing deadlines.
• Tenacity to handle rejection and continue working with a positive attitude when reaching the next potential customer.
• Basic computer skills and technological literacy to operate our POS/Inventory system.
• Attention to detail. Strong organizational skills.
• Learn about new products and local adventure offerings.
• Be effective at communicating with coworkers.
• Be punctual and dependable.
• Be respectful of and adhere to NOC Employee Handbook and Store specific policies.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Comfortable climbing ladders and stairs.
• Ability to stoop, bend, twist.
• Must be able to lift 40lbs.
• Must speak clearly and concisely.
• Comfortable working in a guest facing position.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of experience working in a retail and/or a resort setting.
• Cash handling experience
• Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the outdoor adventures and products that the NOC promotes and sells.
• Knowledge of retail POS systems

Responsibilities

• Discovering guest needs through engagement and providing viable solutions for each guest.
• Process sales accurately and timely.
• Maintaining/creating a visually appealing presentation with products/signage.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards at all times.
• Learn all aspects of the role, products & services offered by NOC.
• Promote all adventure activities that NOC offers, as well as provide information about the various outdoor activities available in our surrounding region.
• Assist with product merchandising and stocking the sales floor.
• Facilitate a positive team dynamic amongst operations staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
