About The Position

Our interns experience firsthand what it is like working in the world of financial services. As a summer intern you will work side by side with our team to provide individuals, businesses, municipalities, and not-for-profit organizations with access to all the financial services they will ever need. Interns will act as a member of the team for the summer, assisting the department and helping achieve the bank’s goal – of ensuring our community thrives and grows. Throughout the summer, interns will have an opportunity to connect with each other, shadow within a branch, network with different departments, and enjoy social events. The summer culminates in a presentation to their managers and the Executive Team. This position is a paid internship/co-op for Summer 2026. Program begins Tuesday, May 26th, 2026. Retail Operations Intern With over 26 office locations spanning between Monroe, Ontario, and Onondaga counties, Canandaigua National Bank’s branch network continues to expand. Our Retail Operations team helps support the Retail locations, as well as the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) efforts. We are seeking an enthusiastic and curious individual to develop a process improvement for the Retail Operations team. This project would require powerful analytical skills, experience with relational databases, and proficient excel skills. This internship is a great opportunity for you to learn from experienced professionals and mentors, contribute to real-world, meaningful projects, and develop your skills in analysis, communication, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. Coursework in in Business Analysis, Project Management, Information Systems, and Data Analysis preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Familiarly with SQL or other data querying languages, Tableau, Power BI a plus.
  • Possess strong communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Desire and comfort interacting with a wide variety of people, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in workshops and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Conducting data analysis and reporting.
  • Assisting with testing and validation of new processes.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings and take detailed notes.
  • Documenting business processes, workflows, and other project documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and improving processes.
  • Develop recommendations for process enhancements based on analysis and research.
  • Create and update process flowcharts and diagrams.
  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
