About The Position

The primary objective of the Retail Store Donation Coordinator (RSDC) is to support the Food Supply Chain department in sourcing food from the following sourcing channels: Retail/Wholesale and Manufacturing. Additionally, to collaborate with Agency Relations on Retail Direct Deliveries and retail-enabled agencies. Typical responsibilities include forecasting, donation tracking, account management, assignment of retail stores to agencies, immediate donor/vendor call/email response, and supporting internal departments. The RSDC will support the Food Donor Account Manager (FDAM) in maintaining relationships and executing our food sourcing plan.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (associate degree preferred).
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • 2 years’ experience working with retail/wholesale vendors.
  • Ability to ensure policies and guidelines are met.
  • Ability to take initiative and see projects through from start to finish.
  • Sensitivity to diverse populations with the ability to serve people in a compassionate, patient, friendly, and courteous manner, showing sincere interest in people’s concerns.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision, but also the ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and responsibilities, while simultaneously maintaining composure and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate professional, assertive, and responsible behavior.
  • Strong Excel, data entry, and math skills.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and good sense of humor.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • 2 years customer service and account management experience.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software or a willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual preferred.
  • ServSafe® training or the willingness to obtain certification.
  • HAACP and AIB experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain retail food donor and vendor accounts.
  • Support retail industry by maintaining strong communications with retail partner store management, manufactures, and vendors.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports/reconciliations on pounds and products received by channel, item category, and other variables as required by Feeding America, and to address interdepartmental inquiries.
  • Forecast and source food for our food sorting and program initiatives and assist FDAM in developing the food sourcing plan.
  • Utilize Feeding America’s toolkits e.g. Store Donation Program Retail Recovery Playbook and other FA resources.
  • Increase the acquisition of donated food from Retail/Wholesale, Manufacturing, and procuring Federal Commodities, and Purchased dry commodities as needed in accordance with Feeding America’s Food 2 Encourage and Healthy Eating Research .
  • Monitor and evaluate the Feeding America websites for special food offerings through the Grocery Purchasing Program , Choice System , MealConnect.
  • Collaborate with Agency Relations, Transportation, and Allocation to connect our partner agencies with donor stores for our Retail Direct Drop and Store Donation Program.
  • Coordinate inbound logistics with Operations or donor/vendor for the transportation and receiving of retail/wholesale, manufactured.
  • Prepare related donation and purchase orders and documentation in systems with related orders -.
  • Coordinate relationship with existing retail/wholesale food donors with the goal of receiving more pounds per donation more frequently.
  • Ensure timely documentation and report to donors on the outcomes of their donation programs. This includes emailing donor receipts and addressing receipt inquiries.
  • Demonstrate excellent account management by following up from purchase order through to receipt.
  • Perform research on prospective food donors and actively solicit food donations.
