About The Position

Winner of the Austin Chronicle’s “Best of Austin” for ten years running, Tomlinson’s is passionate about helping our customers find the right nutrition for their pets. Because of our dedicated, bright, and talented Team Members, we are THE local leader for healthy, natural pet nutrition. We are seeking a Store Manager who shares Tomlinson’s values and believes in our mission. The Store Manager is a role model who is dedicated to coaching and motivating their team. Our Store Managers spend the majority of their time on the floor working alongside their team and training on product knowledge and customer delight. Tomlinson’s Store Managers are paid hourly and annual compensation starts at $50,000 per year with overtime pay, plus monthly bonuses.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of previous leadership experience.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis in order to stock the store and to do carry-outs for customers.
  • This is an active role which requires you to be on your feet for the majority of your shift.
  • Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Up to date car registration.
  • A smartphone with the ability to use our delivery app to navigate.

Responsibilities

  • Is a constant presence on the sales floor helping guests.
  • Is actively selling Tomlinson’s core products and working hard to always hit sales goals.
  • Spends the vast majority of his/her time on the sales floor: Building rapport with both guests and sales staff. Assuring that customer service and satisfaction exceeds our guests’ expectations Acting as an example and coach to sales staff. Monitoring and appraising job performance of sales staff.
  • Advocates for Tomlinson’s core products and place emphasis on these over others.
  • Promotes, maintains the company’s reputation, culture & vision while building relationships among guests & staff.
  • Manages a staff that meets Tomlinson’s Brand Standards Builds a team of hard-working and dedicated staff.
  • Maintains the skills and well-being of current staff with motivational incentives and appropriate evaluations.
  • Ensures his/her staff has the skills & product knowledge to provide the highest levels of service.
  • Maintains operations by training staff according to the company's operational procedures and personnel policies and by consistently enforcing them.
  • Develops, coaches, counsels & disciplines employees in order that each may reach their peak performance.
  • Tomlinson’s likes to promote from within. Store Managers should identify & develop those who are capable of advancement.
  • Creates weekly work schedule, keeping total employee hours within an appropriate range.
  • Reports time clock changes to corporate office by assigned deadline.
  • Fosters respect and cooperation with company policies and procedures by leading with integrity and poise.
  • Keeps the store fully in-stock at all times.
  • Ensures specialty orders are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Maintains an accurate digital inventory in order for the shelves to be constantly full of merchandise by performing cycles counts and ensuring that product is received according to company procedures.
  • Communicates inventory discrepancies to Inventory Manager and Inventory Coordinator.
  • Ensures store’s always aesthetically in compliance with Tomlinson’s Brand Standards Maintains an aesthetically appealing store by keeping it well lit, well stocked, clean and clutter-free, and by making sure it is a warm and welcoming place to shop.
  • Maintains an inspection-ready store at all times.
  • Works under the direction of the Merchandising Manager to keep inventory visually appealing, merchandised to maximize sales, and featuring core products.
  • In constant communication with General Manager and other Headquarters staff regarding store operations & needs.
  • Communicates pertinent information in a timely manner to the District Manager or appropriate headquarters employee to make sure issues are dealt with.
  • Attends monthly managers meetings.
  • Writes and publishes weekly schedules to always ensure proper store coverage.
  • Sends weekly recap to District Manager and attends a weekly 10-minute alignment call.
  • Store Managers are students of the industry & are actively keeping Tomlinson’s relevant to guests and on the leading edge of industry developments.
  • Is knowledgeable about new industry trends and is plugged into and enthusiastic about the pet industry.
  • Informs Merchandising Manger regarding new products that seem to be a fit with Tomlinson’s values and brand standards.
  • This role also assists with deliveries as needed.
